Welcome to Prism Handiworks!
Hi, I’m Tina.
I’m a long time fiber artist with a background as a pelvic health physical therapist. I’m fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest United States with my family because it means I can knit pretty much year round.
As a pelvic health physical therapist, I know that your body and your needs for it are unique!
Because of my 17+ years as a physical therapist, I have taught many people new and unfamiliar concepts on a wide variety of topics, including some VERY sensitive ones. Certainly I’ve had to tailor my teaching to the knowledge and comfort of the person in front of me!
because i love learning and teaching, I’m thrilled to bring these skills to the fiber arts and you!
I’ve worked with a lot of knit and crochet patterns over the past 20 years. Naturally, I’ve also felt the frustrations that come from patterns that are confusing, lackluster in grading, and downright not size or gender inclusive.
So i learned the what, how, and why.
The past 3 years have been spent expanding my fiber arts experience and knowledge by participating in test knitting with shawl/cowl and garment designers and by taking coursework on tech editing and grading.
After that, I’ve worked with Kim Wilkerson of Knit Julep for tech editing and Jen Parroccini of One Wild Designs, both of whom have been key in expanding my knowledge and skillset further in order to bring this dream to life.
the design is your starting point. the pattern is your tool.
I chose the name Prism Handiworks because I want you, the maker, to take my pattern and use your creativity to make it yours.
It’s time to shine my idea through your prism and see what emerges.
I’m here to supply the pattern and the education to make something uniquely yours. You’ll understand the what, how, and why to effectively use the tools I offer. And if you still have questions, I’m just an email away.
You’re the artist. Let’s create.
Available and upcoming designs can be found HERE. Available patterns feature links to sneak peeks and tester feedback/variations.
what test knitters are saying:
“If you hadn’t been so up front about it being your first pattern, I likely wouldn’t have known, it was written out that well.”
“…the pattern itself was easy to look at visually and to follow. The instructions were clear and thorough and I didn’t need to google anyway.”
